- Dubai is to become the capital of couture as two of the world’s most iconic fashion houses set to launch their new luxury hotels in the emirate. The Palazzo Versace Hotel and the Armani Hotel will offer the ultimate in designer luxury living, featuring an array of fabulous facilities and lavishly designed interiors fit for an Arabian Prince. And the world-renowned Lebanese designer Elie Saab will be establishing a presence in Dubai, developing the signature luxury boutique hotel at The Tiger Woods Dubai. - 24-08-2009 | Dubai’s Q2 visitor figures increase despite the global economic downturn
- Dubai has announced a year-on-year increase in visitor figures for Q2 2009, reaffirming its position as one of the world’s leading tourism destinations. The emirate saw 1,857,724 global visitors from April to June 2009 representing a four per cent increase on the same period in 2008. The UK and Ireland together remains the largest source market, with 196,554 visitors during the Q2 period, representing 10.6 per cent of the emirate’s total visitor market. More…

This budding industry is rapidly growing with 260,817 cruise tourists predicted to visit the emirate during 2009; nearly a 25 per cent increase on last year. In 2010, Dubai is expected to host 99 ships with over 383,000 passengers with the burgeoning cruise industry set to grow further as the new Dubai Cruise Terminal becomes fully operational by the end of this year.
